Taxidermy

I am pleased to share my first work of successful taxidermy! The end result exceeded my initial expectations and I am very happy with it. I have received many comments on the realism, which was my taxidermy goal. My sewing skills came in handy, as well as my crafting experience working with small and delicate materials.

To keep him safe and cozy, I knit him a blanket and found him a nice jar to reside in.

Through this experience, I learned that taxidermy is not much different from other fine crafts. It is not a good hobby for the squimish, but since I grew up on a farm this was not a problem for me. It was genuinely interesting to see animal anatomy up close. It was also nice knowing that I was making something that would last much longer than nature would allow.
